The Magicard Prima 8 is a professional high-volume card printer designed for secure card issuance applications where exceptional image quality, reliability, and advanced security options are required. Using reverse-transfer printing technology, it produces high-resolution photo-quality cards with edge-to-edge printing for professional identification, travel, payment, and security applications.

During the retransfer printing process, the card image is first printed onto a thin film before being heat-transferred onto the card surface. This creates a smooth, glossy image with excellent coverage across the card, making the Prima 8 suitable for detailed photographs, fine graphics, branding, and secure identification elements.

The standard Prima 8 uses 300 dpi reverse-transfer printing technology, while an optional 600 dpi model is available for applications requiring exceptionally fine detail. The 600 dpi version can reproduce secure microtext, CJK characters down to approximately 1.3 point size, fine lines, and detailed graphical security elements.

USB and Ethernet connectivity make the Prima 8 straightforward to integrate into professional card issuance environments. It features 100-card input and 100-card output capacities and can print up to 100 single-sided colour cards per hour. A logical printer lock is fitted as standard to help protect sensitive card issuance operations.
