Kitchen printers allow your cash register or epos system to print food / drink preparation tickets. These dot-matrix impact printers (with an ink cartridge) are better suited to kitchen printing as the print is more resilient than thermal printers, clearer to read, and less prone to the print fading by heat, light, steam and moisture. They also support multi-ply rolls if you require a 2nd or 3rd coloured copy of each ticket.

Impact dot-matrix printers are also suitable for dry cleaning tickets for use with indelible ink ribbons, as well as some financial applications where a durable printed receipt / ticket is required.

We supply leading brand equipment including Epson, Star Micronics, Bixolon (formerly Samsung) and HPRT. Our branded kitchen/impact printers can be connected to your till or network via RS232 Serial or Ethernet cable. Other interface options for USB, WiFi (Wireless Ethernet) and Bluetooth are also available for some kitchen impact printer models, or alternatively also see our range of thermal printers for more wireless printer choices. We offer models suitable for Windows and Android based software, as well as cloud based apps running on food ordering websites.

Printing Alert
As well as more resilient print, on impact printers the print-head applies physical pressure on the ink ribbon, thereby making a printing noise. This is useful in alerting the chef and kitchen staff to a new printed ticket. Some have an in-built or optional Bell or Buzzer option for this purpose. This gives impact printers an advantage over thermal printers which print near-silently and a new ticket may not be noticed.

Type of Paper Rolls
TecStore's kitchen / bar printers use 1-ply, 2-ply or 3-ply plain paper rolls, 76mm width, and a black or black/red ink cartridge. One sample 1-ply paper roll and ink cartridge is included in the box. Rolls are available in White, Yellow, Pink or Green for 1-ply rolls. 2-ply rolls are available in White/Pink. 3-ply rolls are available in White/Pink/Yellow so you can designate each sheet copy for a particular purpose (eg. white for kitchen chef, pink for front of house manager, yellow for customer).

Dry Cleaning Ticket Printers
TecStore's range of 76mm-width impact printers are also suitable for use with coloured dry cleaning tickets, and you can replace the standard ink ribbon with an Indelible ink ribbon. See our Consumables section. We also supply Dry Cleaning Ticket rolls.

Note About Wireless Kitchen Printers
Wireless printers rely on signal strength. When choosing a wireless printer, you should ensure that your Bluetooth or WiFi signal is of strong strength all the time, otherwise your tickets may not print some times. If you have too long a distance, interference by other electrical or communications equipment, thick walls, closed doors, closed hatches, long corridors / walkways or different floors/staircases between your terminal / device / router and wireless printer, then it may not always be reliable in day-to-day operation in a busy business environment.

In our experience, it is usually safer wherever possible to run a physical cable and opt for a wired printer (with an RS232 Serial or Ethernet cable) to guarantee that a kitchen ticket will print 100% of the time. For shorter distances, USB is also a safer option than wireless. We can supply USB cables upto 5 metres in length, RS232 Serial cables upto 30 metres in length and Cat5 Ethernet cables upto 100metres long, and these quality cables work reliably for many years.

App / Software Compatibility
Before ordering a kitchen printer, please check with your app or software provider that your intended kitchen printer and communications interface (Serial, USB, Ethernet, Bluetooth or WiFi) is supported by the app / software. If the app / software relies on operating system drivers, you will need to check drivers are available from the manufacturer for your operating system and version. If you will be using non-English characters (eg. Chinese, Korean, Arabic etc) then you will need to check the required character set is supported - check our product profile page or the manufacturers website resources.

We recommend you only download drivers and utilities directly from the manufacturers official website, as third-party sites offering downloads may contain malware.
